Trivia question: Who was this Seattle neighborhood named for? With the Roosevelt name looming large in American history, there are a few possible answers to this question. Answer: Teddy!
The Roosevelt neighborhood developed around the same time as Ravenna Park. President Roosevelt came to visit and one of the landowner’s wives named the biggest tree in the park after him. The name stuck and the neighborhood was born.
The Roosevelt vibe sits nicely between Green Lake’s chill and the quicker pulse of the U District. Parks, eateries and a lively business district round out the reasons to see Roosevelt. Make sure to allow lots of time. You might just want to stay awhile.
